Anybody interested in going to Uwharrie 8/8?

The lack of rain this year might make the trails better for the dirtbikes
but worse for the dust.

URE is definitely on my "to do" list this year.

Count me in as a maybe.

CRAP, I can not go on the 7th or 8th. The wife will be out of town so I have the kids.

I might be able to do this. Is there any rules on riding a dirtbike up there. Like certain gear or anything like that?

Depends on where you ride. The "fireroads" have the same laws as NC paved roads. And I'm pretty sure helmets are required. I don't think there's any bike requirements on the trails other than a spark arrestor in your exhaust. Some rangers will check this. But you need a street legal bike for the fireroads.

Straight from the Uhwarrie site:

FS roads can be used as trail connectors, but all vehicles operating on the road system must be "street legal" meaning that the vehicles are fully licensed, inspected and registered. Persons violating these regulations will be fined according to the law. Helmets are required on the OHV trail system .

The rangers DO patrol the gravel roads at Uwharrie. As mentioned above, most of the gravel roads there only permit licensed vehicles to drive on them. You also need to pick up a permit to ride at Uwharrie, I think its either $5 or $10 per day.

It's 5 bucks for a trail pass and you need a helment.
I ride a 400EX 4wheeler so i don't ride on the fire roads.
